Set on the beautiful island of Jeju, South Korea, facing the sea, the proposed site of a new private Museum represents an ultimate challenge to build a factory of dreams, “la fabbrica dei sogni”. The site has an extraordinary potential of being a gateway between sea and mountains. Our vision imagines three-dimensional filter, a composition of sequences of voids and volumes, acting as a metaphor for a remote sensuality. It absorbs the natural landscape and morphs into its own precise, yet unorthodox, image, recalling the emotion expressed in the work of the artist Lee Wal Chong. The new volume designs and redefines the landscape; it appears as unfinished, as a growing presence who’s ideal edges are joined through the perception of the viewer. The omission of frames echoes abstract sculptural forms.
