To reconvert a designed but unbuilt neighborhood near Tirana’s Lake Farke, the architects ethically balanced the client’s strict volume and economic constraints with the territory’s natural beauty.
By replacing rigid lines with sinuous, organic pathways and positioning major structures along the terrain’s natural contour lines, the new design respects the site’s agricultural and geological history.
Downstream single-family villas are visual fragmented and lightened using shifting horizontal roof discs that provide shade and feature perimeter greenery pools.
Upstream, the largest volumes are arranged in concentric arches to form a green amphitheater that frames the lake, using architectural “stones” and climbing plants to establish a human scale.
Ultimately, this synthesis transforms a dense, massified urban development into a lush, sustainable residential park, proving that density can be leveraged as an opportunity to safeguard a landscape.
