River Residences is designed by humans, for humans, to allow private living while participating in the life of the community at the same time. The transition between public life, private life and intimate life is calibrated so that the degree of detail increases rather than decreases. Thus, we have an interior space that dissolves into the exterior space, and the outside enters our homes, so there is no longer an inside and outside; nature (my park, my city) never ends, and home never ends either. We build to ensure that new residents feel comfortable, paying attention to every moment of daily life, using time as a tool for the design. The community becomes a gathering of individuals and groups coming together in shared social places. The importance of creating friendly environments for new generations lies in the concept of architecture as an entity that evolves not only in space but also in time. We envision families returning home from school or work, with parents holding their children’s hands and proudly surveying their home.
River Residences, in addition to taking care of its inhabitants, tells us about Albania’s Mediterranean tradition with its fortifications and stone partitions lost in the country’s green nature, in a dialogue between built and natural geometries. The interplay of light and shadows decorates a volume rich in surprises, designed to continuously amaze us and change expression with every movement that allows us to shift our point of view. This representation surpasses the meanings of a minimalist modern culture that went continental to embrace the mediterranean richness of light and shadow in a still minimal yet freed expression.
